If you know anything about me then you should be well convinced that I am an Apple fanatic. I waste spend several hours a week reading about Apple rumors in hopes of getting to see the “Well be back soon.” sticky note on the Apple Store. Seriously, I can’t think of any other thing I can see on a computer monitor that gets me as excited as the anticipation of new Apple products. Sadly however, I have been long overdue for a new Mac.

It’s just not healthy to go almost 2 years without getting to experience the unboxing of a Macintosh computer. Sure I have been blessed to open a few iPod’s and other Apple accessories but it is still not the full blown feeling. Not that anything is wrong with the two iMac’s Chrissy and I use on a daily basis, I have an iMac G5 iSight and Chrissy uses an iMac G4 1.25 GHz, but Macs have changed quite a bit in the past 2 years. Which brings me to my point… I want a new Mac! Lucky for me, Apple is rumored to release new products on August 7th.

One of the problems I have with this rumor is the timing. Releasing products which are geared for students just before the fall semester starts does not seem to make sense. I would be very upset if I purchased a new computer for school and the week before the semester started, Apple updated its product line. Late September would seem more feasible to me; however, I wouldn’t complain because I WANT A NEW MAC!

iMac
Apple is very secretive about their products until they are officially announced or for sale, but rumors have it that the iMac will be replaced and the next generation iMac will feature a brushed aluminum finish and a new keyboard design.

Viewing the Apple Store earlier reviles that indeed the keyboard has an expected ship date of 1-3 weeks and it has been quite some time since changes have been made to the iMac design. If Apple does indeed release any new products, this would seem the most logical to me.

MacBook
Oh how this would make my day. If Apple would update the MacBook line with a Santa Rosa processor and LED backlight displays, I would purchase one immediately; even before transfering the money from my savings account. A now smashed rumor was suggesting just this. This rumor however does not make much sense because the MacBook Pro currently carries the Santa Rosa processor and it would be harder to distinguish the MacBook Pro from the MacBook without some changes in the processor. I really wish Apple would release a 12″ MacBook Pro. That would be a great addition to the product line.

Conclusion
Regardless of all the details, August 7th should be a big day for the Apple fans. I know my adrenaline will be going when I am repetitively pushing the refresh button when the boss is not watching.

UPDATE: Looks like the Apple store will also be going down tomorrow for “Scheduled Maintenance”. Could Apple be updating the iLife suite of products along with new .Mac features?
