Chrissy and I took a trip to visit Lauren and Chad in Beavercreek, Ohio. After taking two flights to get there (a story in itself), we found ourselves in a blizzard; we now know the meaning of being “snowed in”. Because we were suck in the house, we did get to have some high quality bonding… which was followed by cabin fever, and ultimately a dangerous venture out into the winter storm. Like a bunch of teenage girls, we ended up with about 170 photos.

There already exist ways to get your Facebook status on your Wordpress or Drupal blog, but what if you are not using either?

If you upgraded to OS X 10.4.11 recently and have noticed a small problem with Safari; it no longer works! The symptoms of this are that Safari will not load any webpage nor will it respond to bookmark links. Is it dead? Probably not.

A quick check under the hood and you will see that along with the 10.4.11 update came Safari 3.0.4. The problem that is happening is that you might have an older version of PicLens installed. What you will need to do is simply uninstall it via the View->PicLens->Remove PicLens menu in Safari and then restart Safari. You should be good to go now. Then just visit PicLens.com and reinstall the newest version of PicLens.

Everyone knows we can’t live without PicLens!

I ran across this a while back and never got around to writing about it. This is probably one of the most educational flash apps I have seen in a while. Universcale is a flash app that Nikon created that puts the world in which we live to the concept of “size”. It shows objects that range in size from 10^27 m to 10^-15 m. And if your not familiar with powers of 10. Thats 1000000000000000000000000000 vs. 0.000000000000001 m!

Even expressing the distance change mathematically, it is difficult to comprehend. “Our curiosity brings us to use objects visible to the naked eye as yardsticks to identify those things invisible and to give them new units of measurement. We are now capable of comparing and ranking these entities.”

Facebook photos still suck in terms of quality and have noticeably gotten worse in terms of server reliability (photos not loading). Another annoyance is that I get emails saying that XYZ did JKL and I have to login to see the text (wall post, etc). Although the photos still suck, RIM has released a Facebook BlackBerry App that helps simplify the Mobile User to Facebook interaction. This and other news tells me that we are winning the battle with Facebook in usability vs. pageviews.
